What is Careousel Pediatrics?
Careousel pediatrics is a pediatric hospice and palliative care program which specializes in medical care for children with life-threatening or serious illnesses. Pediatric hospice and palliative care aims to improve the quality of life for both child and family by providing relief from their symptoms, pain and stress of the diagnosis. Approximately 400,000 pediatric patients are believed to be living today with life-threatening disorders and little to no access to home-based palliative care. Careousel Pediatrics aims to change this, one community at a time.
Services are available to patients pre-natal through age 25 who have life-limiting illnesses or conditions and whose pediatrician or specialist agrees that the child is appropriate for hospice or palliative care. Families are able to participate in the hospice or palliative care program and still keep all of the patients existing physicians, practitioners and treatments.
